Liam is the second son of Kevin and Julianne O’Dea and has shown his sporting prowess over a number of years by being selected in a number of under age football and junior cricket teams at an association and regional level. He played in a number of Mid North Junior Cricket sides as an Under 14, 16, 17 and 18. On a number of occasions he was selected as captain of his team. He has been selected in team of the year for Junior levels in cricket at country carnivals on four occasions between the years 2003-2006.
He was also a successful footballer who won association best and fairest medal as a Junior in 2003. Club B&F as a Junior colt in 2003, Senior Colts best and Fairest two years running. He played in two premiership teams in Junior Colts in 2000 and 2003.
He won Orroroo Football Club A Grade B&F in 2008 and recently was a valuable member of the 2021 Orroroo Football Club A-grade premiership team.
Liam moved to Port Lincoln in 2011 and has represented Eyre Peninsula Zone football for 2 years since moving to Port Lincoln. He played cricket for Southern Eyre South Cricket Club. Whilst playing there he has played in four premierships, five 20/20 premierships and went on to win 20/20 state cricket final played in Adelaide. Liam has captained SES, EP combined sides, won three club best and fairest and numerous batting, bowling and fielding awards. He has made 15 centuries in his cricket career to date. His best bowling figures is 4 wickets in five balls.
During his time in Lincoln he travelled to England and played cricket for two seasons and learnt to manufacture cricket bats out of English Willow. Jedi was the brand of bat which he brought back to Australia and found a market for the business.
At the end of his Year 12 he was honoured at Government House for his two scores of 20 for his two Technology Projects, one in woodwork and the other for his metalwork.
