Brodie O’Dea, eldest son of Kevin and Julianne O’Dea is one of only a few country sportsman to represent the South Australian Country teams in both football and Cricket.
He travelled to Perth in 2013 to represent Country State Football team. In 2018 he travelled to Geraldton in Western Australia and in 2019 went to Shepparton in Victoria to represent the State Country Outback Cricket team.
He has always been a keen sportsperson who has represented both football and cricket at an association level in both junior ranks and senior grades. Between the year 2000 and 2005 he was a part of underage groups in football and cricket in carnival team of the Year on more than one occasion. He has been a recipient of association medals as a junior cricketer and footballer as well as in the senior ranks, winning best and fairest medals in both senior colts in 2003 and in the mail medal in the A Grade in 2011. He won a number of club B&F during his junior years. He was involved in Premiership teams in Juniors in 2000, and Senior colts in 2002
He has played A grade football for Renmark in a premiership team in 2009.
He has been fortunate to win four premierships for Pekina/Carrieton Cricket club in five years from 2013/14 season to 2017/18.He has also won 5 20/20 premierships for three different clubs. He was also part of the Upper North Cricket team who won the country carnival in 2016/17. He has won numerous awards at club and association level for his batting and bowling. In his career to date he has made 25 centuries including a double century against Spalding making 257 off 137 balls. During this season in 2011 he made 1000 runs in the season. His best bowling figures was 6 for 1.
He has also successfully established a Suffolk and White Suffolk sheep stud at Wepowie. Initially in 2017 he began with the black Suffolk, then has diversified in 2019 with white Suffolk, added to his flock. Each year his flock is increasing making sales to local and district farmers.
